The Getty Villa is a modern interpretation of an archeological dig and recalls the natural environment of Pompeii and Herculaneum in Italy, A.D. 79. The landscape design of the 64-acre complex, which includes a 2,500-sq. ft entry pavilion, formal and herb gardens and a 450-seat Greek theater, was done in collaboration with Machado and Silvetti, SPF Architects, and Morley Construction.

For more than four years, KornRandolph managed the complex issues and challenges associated with construction administration. Led by Matt Randolph, who hand-selected plants and herbs, granite and marble for the civil engineered terrace walls, the firm designed a living sound buffer that incorporated cypress trees, rosemary and other plants. Today, KornRandolph continues to collaborate with the Getty Grounds Department to further develop the gardens as they mature.
